Teachers Get The Vip Treatment
Teacher Appreciation Week (January 15-19) was sponsored by the Board of Trustees and filled with unexpected treats for teachers.
Monday was a school holiday, so hopefully teachers got to sleep a little late that morning (even though they had first semester grade reports to write!). When Tuesday rolled around and faculty looked in their mail boxes, they found notes of appreciation from both parents and students. Most agreed that nothing could have been a nicer surprise. On Thursday, school board members turned the Jaworski Commons into an Italian café complete with red-checked tablecloths. They donned aprons and served delicious lasagna while faculty dined in style. At the end of the meal, one teacher’s name was drawn for a $250 gift certificate to the Richland Mall. Math teacher Dena Johns was the lucky winner!
“I can’t remember anything like this in my years at Vanguard,” one teacher said. “It made me feel wonderful and truly appreciated. We all want to thank the Board of Trustees for such a thoughtful gesture.”
