School Overview
Vanguard School, founded in 1973, is a private, independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for students in grades 7-12. Current enrollment is 155. Qualified students are admitted regardless of race, religion, or ethnic origin.
The campus consists of 8.5 acres and the School is housed in several buildings including a science lab/classroom building completed in 1984, a gymnasium completed in 1980 and enlarged as a multi-purpose facility in 1992 and renovated in 2006, an arts center completed in 1987 that was remodeled in 2005 to include the administrative offices, and a new visual arts building opened in the fall of 2004. A new classroom building opened for use in the fall of 2000.
State of the art computer labs are accessible to students, and the entire campus has wireless Internet access. Art, drama, debate, publications, service organizations, and athletics are among extracurricular options.
There are 22 on the teaching faculty. The teacher-student ratio is 1:8 with the class size range from 3-18.
The academic year begins on August 23 with the first semester ending on January 18 and the second semester ending with graduation on May 30. Students are supported and encouraged to develop valuable study skills and the self discipline necessary to succeed in post graduate experiences. Opportunities for independent study are available.

In the last 5 years, Vanguard has had 10 National Merit Finalists, 21 Commended and 3 Hispanic Scholars.
