Vanguard School traditions are important because they create a sense of belonging and shared interests among students, faculty, and families. These meaningful rituals also reinforce values, encourage participation, and provide unique opportunities for experiential learning and community connection.

Valentine's Day

 

Our school’s Valentine’s Day tradition is a sweet celebration of friendship and kindness. Each year, students receive cupcakes and carnations, spreading joy and appreciation throughout the day. It's a fun way for classmates to show they care and make the day feel extra special.

Field Day

 

Field Day is one of our school’s most exciting traditions, filled with outdoor games, friendly competition. Students spend the day participating in fun activities like relay races, tug-of-war, and a color war, all while cheering on their classmates. It’s a celebration of teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride.

Emma's Day

 

Each year, we have Emmas Day, a meaningful event where students step outside the classroom and into the community to make a difference. Partnering with local nonprofits and service organizations, our students spend the day volunteering their time, energy, and talents to support important causes across the area.

Seventh Grade Trip

 

The Annual 7th Grade Trip inculdes exploration of the Hill Country. The Trip is lead by science teacher Patty Flowers. Mrs Flowers has been taking kids on this trip since 1988. Activitys inculed bonding with each other at placess like Enchanted Rock, the Nimitz Museam in Fredericksburg and much more. 

Eighth Grade Trip

 

At the end of the year Mrs. Flowers takes the 8th grade class to the Texas Gulf coast for four nights to study Texas history as we travel to Washington on the Brazos and then to Goliad. World War II will be
emphasized as we tour the U.S.S. Lexington harbored in Corpus Christi Bay. Activities include a walk on the jetty at
Port Aransas, tour of the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus, an afternoon on Malachite Beach, and a day at Sea
World of Texas.

Winter Glitter Formal

 

Vanguard has a Winter Glitter Formal for High School and Middle School.  This is a tradition of fun for all the Vikings!

International Spring Break Trip

 

During Spring break High School students have the oppertunity to travel out of the country to countries such as Spain, Italy, France, Japan and more. During these trips students get to explore forign citys while also learing about the cites culture and history. 

Senior Traditions - Senior Parade, Mo Ranch, Haunted House, Carnations, Powder Puff and more!

Senior Lounge

The seniors have a specific building on campus that is college-style, like a commons area, designed to build independence, time management, and critical skills that will benefit students in college.

On Field Day the Seniors Cook Burgers for the entire school to eat for lunch.

Vanguard Seniors kick-off the new school year by having a parade around the Vanguard Campus!
